What is JUVÉDERM XC wrinkle treatment?

JUVÉDERM® injectable gel , an FDA approved cosmetic medicine in 2006, made of Hyaluranic acid (HA), is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds). The JUVÉDERM® family of dermal fillers is formulated with innovative HYLACROSS™ technology, resulting in smooth-consistency gel that flows easily into the skin and creates a natural look and feel for your patients. JUVÉDERM® is the only hyaluronic acid (HA) filler FDA approved† to last up to 1 year with initial treatment.

What is JUVÉDERM® XC ®?

In 2010, the FDA approved the NEW JUVÉDERM® XC, formulated with the local anesthetic 0.3% lidocaine, to provide patients with a more comfortable injection experience when compared to the non-lidocaine compound. It provides the smooth, natural looking results your patients expect now with the improved comfort they want. In fact, 9 out of 10 patients reported less pain with JUVÉDERM® XC injectable gel.

What areas can be treated with JUVÉDERM®?

JUVÉDERM® is indicated for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines, vertical lip lines, or chin wrinkles, as well as enhancing lip volume, lasting up to one year.

How does JUVÉDERM® injection work?

The transparent JUVÉDERM® gel that includes hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar that bolsters skin elasticity, is injected with a syringe into the mid- to deep dermis of your face. JUVÉDERM® improves your appearance by lifting and adding volume to the wrinkles and folds in the treatment area. After six to nine months, the biocompatible compound is naturally absorbed in to the body. One advantage to JUVÉDERM® is its pliant gel consistency, which may provide a smoother, more natural-looking appearance than some of its more rigid predecessors.

How long does the result of JUVÉDERM® treatment last?

The result of JUVÉDERM® treatment lasts up to one year.

What are the JUVÉDERM® side effects?

Temporary injection-site reactions and side effects are usually mild to moderate redness, tenderness, bruises, or pain at the injection site and they usually subside within three days. Rarely, discoloration may occur, but this is reversible. Firmness, swelling, bumps are also rare side effects, and should subside within seven days. Patients should avoid excessive aspirin use to avoid extreme bruising with the treatment. JUVÉDERM® is not for people with severe allergies, history of anaphylaxis, or with severe allergies to Gram-positive proteins.
